While both use therapeutic light energy, they work in different ways and support different tissues within the body.
Understanding that difference helps explain why AFC chose technology that combines both.
Think of It Like Layers
Imagine shining a flashlight through your hand.
Some light stays near the surface.
Some penetrates deeper.
Red and Near-Infrared Light work in a similar way.
Red Light
Visible red light works primarily near the surface.
It may help support:
- Healthy skin
- Circulation near the skin
- Superficial tissue recovery
- The body’s natural healing response
Near-Infrared Light
Near-infrared light travels deeper beneath the skin.
It may help support:
- Muscles
- Tendons
- Ligaments
- Joints
- Recovery following physical activity
- Healthy inflammatory responses
Why AFC Uses Both
Our Recovery Therapy system combines both wavelengths during treatment.
Instead of choosing one or the other, both work together to support multiple layers of tissue.
That means one comfortable session may provide support from the skin down into deeper muscles and joints.
